On the 6th of October 2021, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, along with the Deputy Governor Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development Engr. Abiola Kosegbe, the Commissioner of Physical Planning Dr. Tpl Idris Salako and other dignities where at the relaunching of the Certificate of Completion and Fitness for Habitation hosted by the General Manager of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) Arc. Gbolahan Oki.
Owners and developers of new structures and ongoing construction across Lagos State who have obtained their approved building permit and there structure have been properly monitored and certified by officers of LASBCA are now eligible for the Certificate of Completion. Also, owners of existing structures with an approved building permit can also apply for same after undergoing the necessary verification.
The event was aimed at re introducing to the general public the Certificate of Completion and Fitness of Habitation and also reiterate the necessity for developer and building owners to apply for their authorization to commence construction from LASBCA after they have gotten their approved building permit. This will allow officers of the agency to conduct stage by stage site inspection exercise which is the prerequisite for obtaining the Certificate of Completion and Fitness for Habitation for new structures.
Mr Governor also tasked the Head of Department and Supervising Directors of LASBCA to be proactive in reaching out to developers who have duly been approved to obtain the certificate. He reinstated his support for the Agency and implored developers across the state to be law abiding and not compromise the safety of Lagosian while trying to erect their structures.
The event concluded with Mr Governor presenting some of the eligible persons with their certificate and sharing a picture with the Head of Department and Supervising Directors of the Agency.
